What is the Grade Distribution Graph?

The Grade Distribution Graph in Canvas provides a visual summary of how students performed on a particular assignment. This feature allows instructors and students to see the range of scores, including the highest, lowest, and average grades. For instructors, it's a helpful tool for identifying trends and assessing overall class performance. For students, it offers insight into how their individual scores compare to the rest of the class. 

 

If enabled, students can view the grade distribution graph in the "Grades" section of the course and click on this icon:

Which will show the following information:

If you do not want students to have access to the grade distribution graph in the grades section, complete the following steps:

 

1. Navigate to the "Settings" of the course you wish to adjust.

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the "Course Details" page and select "Hide grade distribution graphs from students"

3. Click "Update Course Details"

Note: Whether or not students have access to see the Grade Distribution Graph, Instructors can find this information within the "Reports" section of their "New Quiz".
