If you would like to upload a file to your Canvas course, you can do so by adding to the "Files" category, adding a file to a module, and adding it on a "page".
Add File(s) to your "Files" category:
Navigate to the course that you want to add the file(s) and go to the "Files" category found in the navigation on the left hand side:

Manually upload the file(s) by clicking "Upload" or drag and drop the file(s) into the window:

Your students will see the files in the "File" category for the course, but they will not show up in the modules until you add them. Directions for adding to a module are found within the "Adding a file to a Module" below.
Adding a file to a Module
Within your course, navigate to the module that you would like to add the file to and click on the grey "+" button:

Change the dropdown box option to "File". You can select a file that already exists in your "Files" category or upload a new file by selecting "Create File(s)". If you choose a file that already exists, simply click on it and click on "Add Item":

If you create a new file upload, manually choose the file you want or drag and drop the file, then click "Add Item":

Adding a file to a Page
You can add a file directly to a page within your course. Navigate to the page you want to edit and click edit. Within the rich content editor, you can manually add a file or drag and drop a file where you would like.
The manually add a file, go to "insert", "document", and click to find the document on your computer or drag the document into the window. Click "save" and see your file load onto your page:

To drag and drop a file into the rich text editor, drag the file(s) into the window and click "save" at at the bottom of the page to save changes:
