After You Graduate: Important Email and Data Information

This guide provides steps to ensure important things like your email content, data, and course projects (Knight Domains) are migrated, if desired.

This guide is meant to reflect communication you have or will receive upon graduation.

Before your Google Workspace and your @snc.edu email is deactivated, be sure to complete these important steps:

• Update your contact information

Ensure your contact information is up-to-date before your @snc.edu email is deactivated to make sure you continue receiving news and information from St. Norbert College.

• Check Google Storage - Clean up Files

Verify the amount of data stored in your Google account. Clean up any unnecessary files before downloading or transferring your data.

• Take Your Data With You

Option 1: Export and download your data from Google products such as email, documents, calendar, and photos b y using Google Takeout Download.

Option 2: Transfer your email and Drive data to another personal Google account by using Google Takeout Transfer. Be mindful of storage space limitations (typically 15 GB in personal accounts). If more storage is needed, please refer to Upgrading Google Storage.

Note: Your account and data will be deleted 6 months following your graduation date.

• Change Ownership of Documents

If you created documents as part of your job in a campus department, ensure someone in that department owns those documents for continued management. Shared files will lose permissions during transfer and will need to be re-established.

• Download any files from Canvas that you may wish to take with you (ex: syllabi, completed assignments, etc).
• If you created a website using Knight Domains and want to keep it, be sure to migrate your site. (Your site will expire one month after graduation.)
• If you created any documents or materials using SNC licensed software (ex: Qualtrics, SPSS, ArcGIS) and want to download that content, be sure to do so. You will lose access to this software as an alumni.
• Update your Communication Preferences:

If you've used your SNC student email address with other websites or services (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, shopping sites), update your communication preferences with a personal email address.
