Changing Instance Type
To save money, we adjust the instance type of the RstudioConnect Server to better fit our needs as needs change.
If you receive questions from instructors using the device, it's possible that the issues could be resolved by scaling up resources to that device.
Generally we've seen good results from the "t2.medium" instance type. But if we see increased usage of the device, you could scale up to "t2.large" or "t2.xlarge".
To do this, navigate the the AWS admin console in a browser.
If necessary, here's login info:
Console URL: https://console.aws.amazon.com
Account ID: 404878421572
Username: This would have been provided to you
Password: Provided to you, and you would have changed it
If you don't know your login information, navigate to https://console.aws.amazon.com and login with the itsat@snc.edu creds stored in BitWarden. This is the root account, and has access to everything. Use this account with caution.

Once logged in, search for "EC2" in the search bar near the top left part of the window. Click on the item named "EC2".
You will be brought to our EC2 dashboard. This das

hboard shows you all of our active an inactive EC2 VMs. Click on "Instances (running)" in the Resources area to bring up our Rstudio Connect server.
We have a tiny footprint in EC2, and may have only one or two machines running at a given time.
It's important to understand what you're looking at when you see our EC2 machines. You just need to be concerned with the Name, Instance state, and Instance type columns.

To make a change to the VM, click the checkbox, then select the "Instance state" dropdown menu -> Stop Instance

Once the machine is "Stopped", click on "Actions" -> "Instance settings" -> "Change instance type"

Click on the New instance type drop down, and select one of the t2. options. You can also put "t2" into this field to only show the t2 options. Once you've selected your option, click "Apply".

Click on the checkbox next to the VM, click on "Instance state" -> "Start instance".
