How to Set Excel as Default Spreadsheet Program on Mac

All Mac devices have a default program installed called Numbers that works with spreadsheets. Because of this, whenever you open a spreadsheet, it will automatically open with this program. If you are using a different program to view spreadsheets, such as Excel, here is how to change it.

  1. Find a file you want to, for this example, open in Excel instead of Numbers.
  2. Right click on the file and click "Get Info".Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  4. Click where it says Numbers and change it to Excel.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  5. Then click "Change All..." so this setting applies to all your documents similar to the one you've right clicked.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
