General Info
We use Paperspace templates to create our VMs.
There is currently a single template we use
Name: FA24 CSCI Template
Template ID: tdhcjt0o
User Creation
Before we can create a computer for a person, we need to make sure that person has been added to our SNC Paperspace "Team".
Login to Paperspace (https://paperspace.com) with your Google account.
In the top left corner, ensure you see "CORE", and "Team SNC".

In the top right corner of the window, find your avatar, and click on the "Add collaborators" button beneath it.

Click INVITE A USER, and enter their SNC email address in.

If you want to see the state of a person's account, you can search for them with Filters. You can filter by status, or by name.

Machine Creation
Login to Paperspace (https://paperspace.com) with your Google account.
In the top left corner, ensure you see "CORE", and "Team SNC".

Click "CREATE A MACHINE", near the upper right corner of the window.

Under Machine, select the "All" tab, then "C5". This will pop open more options beneath.

Under OS Template select "Custom", and click on the template you'd like to use.

Now you'll need to change the name of the computer. The naming convention is as follows:
TermcodeSubjectshortcode-StudentName
FA24CSCI-HoraceRiggitini

Leave the Network section untouched.
In Authentication and Access, search for the person you're provisioning the machine for. If they don't appear in the list, move past this part. We can always grant someone access to the computer later.
In the Snapshots section, change the frequency to "Weekly", and Snapshots to store to "2".
In Auto Shutdown, change the drop down to "1 hour".
In Starting State, it's important to toggle Start Immediately on if a person urgently needs to access the computer.
Then you can click Create Machine at the bottom of the page.

User management after VM creation
If you were unable to find a user to grant access during VM creation (or need to troubleshoot something on the device by accessing it yourself), follow these steps.
Find the machine you'd like to grant access to. You can use the Filter features to do so.

Click on the machine to bring up its details.
In the top right corner of the details, you will see who the computer is assigned to right now.

If you click on the + button, you will be able to search for a person to add access to.
