Pooled Positions Sheet

Sheets provide the interface to view and enter data in the model. They are akin to the concept of tabs within an Excel file. Users with Standard or System Administrator access may edit data within a sheet while only users with System Administrator access may set up sheets.

Pooled Positions Sheet

  1. The purpose of this sheet is to provide users the ability to plan expenditures for pooled job types.

  2. Sheet type: Modeled

    1. Modeled sheets offer the flexibility to design column-based sheets. They are configurable and well-suited for a variety of purposes. Modeled sheets contain the underlying business logic for modeling financial events.

  1. Planning for compensation related expenses will take place across several different sheets.

  2. Pooled Costs will be budgeted in lump sum amounts with the following Job Family Categories: Graduate Assistant, Post Doctorate, and Students.

  3. Additional costs such as on-call, shift-differential, retention, FPDA, summer salary, and other allowances will be budgeted in lump sum amounts. Summer salary will be based on institution best practices.

  4. The Compensation Budget – Pooled Costs sheet will support Position ID, Position, Pay Rate, Grant, Program, Project, Gift, Job Family Group, FTE, Merit Rate (override), Distribution Percent, Cost Center, Start/End Date, Costing Allocation Start/End Date, Costing Allocation Level, Staffing Status, Hours/Week, Time Type, Position Worker Type, and Pay Rate Type for different quantitative compensation components.

  5. Planning for pooled job categories will be visualized with Time in the columns and Fund, Level, and Account in the rows.

    1. Spend categories include lump sums and salary/wages for Student Employment, Temporary Hourly Employee, Salaried/No Benefit, Hourly/No Benefit and Adjunct Faculty/No Benefit positions.

  1. Versions fall into two categories within Workday Planning: Actuals and Working Budget.

    1. The compensation sheet will house Budget data.

Point-of-View Selector

  1. The sheet setup allows users to filter and display data by many dimensions including version, time, level, account, and employee class.

  2. To access selectors, select any of the drop-down menus where you will find trees for the respective level, fund, or revenue account you wish to find.

  3. You may change selectors and filters by selecting Display Options in the sheet’s toolbar.
