Making your Canvas Page with Images and Hyperlinks within your course

Pages are an effective and efficient way to store educational resources for your course. There is a rich text editor that includes:

It is also a great way to add image files to make the canvas page more aesthetically pleasing! These images can also be linked to internal and external links for easy navigation.

To begin, navigate to the course you would like create/edit a page in.

Click on "Pages" found on the left hand side:

You can then click on an existing page or create a new one by selecting "+Page" in the upper right hand corner:

To begin, start building the page how you would like students to view it. For this example, the course page design includes an image header, text, table, and more images.

(Note: The editing screen is a bit wider than the course view. It would be good to save your progress along the way and check on appearance- both teacher view and student view- to be sure it is appearing how you wish.)

To add the first image in the example design, click on the "images" button, "Upload Image", and then drag and drop, or click to browse your computer files to select.

You can continue to edit below the image. This example shows text being added (see red arrow) and also the numerous options of other things that can be added on the page:

Following the example design, a table has been added to show course information:

More images can also be added underneath the written text/table. Images can be added using the directions above, but you can also add images by dragging and dropping directly into the text editor and resize:

You can hyperlink and text or images that you have added to the text editor.

For example, you could link your "Week 1" image to your first module in my course. When students click on the "Week 1" image it will take them directly to Module 1 on the Modules page:

Another example, is linking to text externally to something like Zoom:

The contents of the page, by default, will resize based on the screen size that is viewing it.

If you would like to keep the view the same no matter the screen size (For example, always displaying a 3x3 grid of pictures) place you images within a table:

You can insert images within the cells or drag and drop existing images within the shell:

Or clicking inside the cell and following the same directions to import and image.

If you would like to make the lines of the table invisible, you will click on the table, navigate to the "Table" icon, click "Table Properties", and change the "Border Width" to zero, and "save":
