Students: How to upload a file to submit an assignment

To upload a file as an assignment in Canvas, you can follow these general steps:

First, click on the assignment you are looking to submit for (This could be in the "Modules" tab, but will always be located in the "Assignments" tab)

At the top of the assignment page it will show your current status with the assignment. It will show which attempt you are on, how many points the assignment is worth, and it will tell you your progress and what your steps should be:

The details of the assignment will display on the screen and include any rubrics your professors have set up (if any).

At the bottom of the page, the types of submissions your professor is accepting will display. To "Ipload" a file to submit your assignment, click "upload":

You can drag a file from your computer or click to choose a file manually:

You will know the file has been properly uploaded when you see you file listed and see a green checkmark next to it.

If you need to upload another file, do so by dragging another file or clicking to choose the next file manually. 

 

When you are ready to submit, click "Submit Assignment":

If you scroll back to the top of the assignment details, you will see that your progress has changed to "submitted" and give you the time it was successfully submitted. It will also share what your next steps are. It will also show you that your score is n/a (not available). This will update when your professor grades your assignment.
